Tristane of Yogg'Voril
Tristane of the elven kingdom of Yog'Voril has had a troubling life. When he was an elven boy at the human age of 75, he lost his mother, as he was seized from her arms and cast into a river. He was found by his adoptive parents Lady Kima, and Tiberius the draconian archmage, who kept him safe for the next hundred years until their own deaths. He wandered the world for near a half century before returning to the country of Yog'Voril, where he was captured on the border by guards who mistook him for an apparition of the king. He was brought before king Kevdak and claimed by his father. Though not as his heir.
In the elven state, only the strong can rule. The highest class of nobility are the princes. These twelve elves have magical gifts that allow them to defend the current king, who is elected from the ranks of princes, for life. When an elf shows magical abilities, he is brought before the court of princes to prove his worth, being challenged to a duel by each of them, allowing the young elf to show off his powers. If it is deemed powerful enough, one of the princes is deposed to a lower rank of lord, and the new prince is crowned. Tristane is considered the favorite to become the next king, and has been appointed as the high general of all the elven armies. Tristane has the gift of dreamwalking, allowing him to go into people's minds and affect them whilst he slumbers.
